Scientific research and education — software for universities and institutes

Research in optics and photonics requires industrial-grade tools — iSymulacje provides them to universities in Poland at preferential prices or free of charge.

Engineering challenges in scientific research and education

TracePro, OSLO, and the Optiwave suite are the standard not only in industry — they are also the tools the academic community reaches for worldwide. Students and PhD candidates trained on the same tools used in industry are far better prepared for professional work. Researchers using industrial software can transfer results directly into industrial applications.

Lambda Research Corporation offers a special academic program: free annual licenses for TracePro, OSLO, and RayViz for instructors and students registered in courses, along with a free OSLO EDU version available to anyone without course registration. Optiwave offers 30-day trials of all products and preferential academic licenses.

As the authorized distributor in Poland, iSymulacje serves technical universities, PAN institutes, and research units — coordinating academic licenses, organizing training, and offering technical support in Polish.

Teaching goal

The university is deploying professional software for designing and analyzing optical systems, letting students gain practical skills using educational OSLO EDU licenses.

Optical system design

In OSLO, students design lens systems, analyze aberrations, determine focus position, and assess imaging quality. Simulations let them verify the effect of changing optical parameters before building actual systems.

Ray propagation analysis

TracePro is used to model ray propagation in complex optical systems, analyzing illuminance distribution, optical efficiency, and the effect of reflections and scattering on the performance of the systems being designed.

Supporting the teaching process

The virtual lab allows design exercises to be carried out regardless of the availability of measurement stations, letting students independently experiment with optical system parameters and compare simulation results with lab measurements.

Frequently asked questions
Scientific research and education

How do I get free academic TracePro licenses for a course?

The instructor registers the course on the Lambda Research Corporation website (lambdares.com/edu). Once approved, students and the instructor receive annual TracePro, OSLO Premium, and RayViz licenses. iSymulacje supports this process for Polish universities — get in touch with us.

Does OSLO EDU have limitations compared to the Premium version?

OSLO EDU limits the number of optical surfaces in a system to 24 and does not include all the advanced tolerancing functions and the full CCL language. For most teaching tasks and simple research projects, it is fully sufficient.

Do research institutes (PAN, sector institutes) qualify for academic licenses?

It depends on the manufacturer and the nature of the project. Get in touch with us — we'll help determine the best licensing option for your institution.

Do you offer training for academic staff?

Yes. We organize training in TracePro, OSLO, and OptiSystem, both online and on-site. Training is delivered in Polish by engineers experienced in optical design.

Have a specific challenge in this field?
